Why Dragon Defence exists

Dragon Defence was founded because we saw an industry heading in a different direction to the one we believed in. Security solutions had become transactional. Reports were being churned out, jargon was replacing clarity, and clients were being left with findings they couldn't act on. The human side of security work was disappearing.

Time and again, businesses told us the same thing: that world-class cyber security felt inaccessible, too complex, too jargon-heavy, and too difficult to navigate. We built Dragon Defence to change that, combining deep technical capability with a straight-talking, client-first approach that makes real protection genuinely within reach.

Jason Douglas

Co-Founder

Jason Douglas brings years of hands-on experience across cybersecurity and technology to the UK security sector, working directly with organisations to strengthen their defences against an increasingly sophisticated and fast-moving threat landscape. He has held senior leadership positions at two of the UK's leading cyber security and information security firms, including roles as Global Head of Channel Sales and Head of Channel, where he built and scaled high-performing partner ecosystems delivering enterprise-grade security solutions across the UK & Ireland and North America.

Throughout his career, Jason has earned a reputation for bridging the gap between technical excellence and commercial clarity. He specialises in helping organisations of all sizes understand their cyber risk in practical terms and take confident, informed action. He has spoken publicly on topics such as cyber incident response planning, ransomware resilience, and building security cultures that go beyond tick-box compliance.

Dragon Defence was born from a frustration Jason and James heard repeatedly from businesses: that world-class cyber security felt inaccessible, overly complex, jargon-heavy, and difficult to navigate. Dragon Defence changes that. As Co-Founder and Technical Director of Dragon Defence, James brings over a decade of offensive security experience to every engagement, working with some of the UK's larger organisations as Head of Security Testing. He thinks like an attacker, because that's the only honest way to test a defence. Whether it's infrastructure, web applications, cloud environments or the human element, he finds the gaps that others miss.

His experience spans the full spectrum of organisations, from small businesses and fast-growing companies to large enterprises, as well as charities, education and public sector. That breadth means James understands both the threats facing well-resourced security teams and the real-world constraints of organisations protecting what matters on a tighter budget.

He works with clients, not just for them, translating complex risk into clear decisions and giving leadership teams the confidence to act. James invests in understanding each client's business, their risks and their goals, building relationships that go beyond the engagement, the trusted partner clients come back to, not just a supplier they found on a procurement list.
